5 iPhone Hacks for New Users to Get the Most Out of the Technology

technologyYou might think you know it all when it comes to operating your iPhone, but even the most advanced users often overlook some of the simplest tips. If you are a new iPhone user, it can be difficult to wrap your head around everything that your new smartphone can do. Here is a list of the simplest iPhone hacks to make the most out of the technology you have.

Charge Your Battery Faster
If you need your iPhone to charge faster – simply plug in your phone and switch to airplane mode. To do this, swipe up to open the Control Center. Tap airplane mode to activate. Once in airplane mode, you will not be able to receive text messages or phone calls. Only use this mode when you need a quick charge. Not overnight – in case of emergency.

Invert Your Display Colors for Night Mode
You can cause damage to your eyes if you’re guilty of reading or using your iPhone (or any mobile device) in the dark. Invert the colors of your screen to make reading in bed more comfortable. To do this, navigate to your phone’s settings. Scroll to the General tab. Once in general settings, find the Accessibility tab and tap. Under the Vision section – find and select invert colors. This will help with eye strain. This is also nice if you have a significant other sleeping next to you.

Save Favorite Websites to Your Home Screen
If you have websites that you frequent daily – it might be a good idea to save yourself some time by adding these websites to your home screen. To do this, navigate to the website you’d like to save. Near the bottom of the page, you will see an Export icon. Tap this and when prompted select Add to Home Screen. An icon should now appear on your home screen. Accessing your favorite websites has never been easier.

Shake to Undo
If you are composing a text or email and autocorrect doesn’t catch your mistakes, simply shake your device. After shaking, a message will appear asking if you’d like to Undo. Simply tap Undo to clear your text. This will work on the pre installed apps. It may not work on all apps you download – it’s an option for app developers to add this feature.

Train Siri to Know Your Relationships
If you want to train Siri to respond to action requests for certain people by relation (example: “Call Aunt” or “Call Wife”), simply ask her. Siri will ask you who is your wife/aunt/dad etc. is and will remember it for next time.

There are so many more things you can do with your iPhone. This is just a short and simple list to get you started on your road to getting to know your device better.
